Looking to join the team of the world’s biggest and best football museum?

We’re England’s only national museum for football and our mission is simple - sharing stories about football! We’re the place for everyone to enjoy stories about football culture. It’s our mission to hear those stories and tell them in an engaging and creative way.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a vital part in each visitor's experience. You will be expected to deliver a truly memorable level of customer service proactively engaging with all visitors ensuring that they feel welcome and valued, enjoying a rewarding experience within the museum conducting tours of the museum and also assisting with the delivery of the educational programme.

Visitor Experience

  • To lead and assist with the delivery of public programme activities including guided tours and talks.
  • To deliver tours of the museum’s galleries on a daily basis as and when required
  • To provide talks to visitors/groups on specific objects
  • Provide a warm, vibrant welcome to all visitors creating a positive first impression of the museum.
  • Assist visitors in a friendly, courteous and professional manner upon arrival (ensuring any special requirements are noted) and throughout the rest of their journey.
  • Seek to engage, interact and communicate with visitors throughout the museum. Actively promote ways to add value to their experience and to aspire to surpass their expectations.
  • Expertly demonstrate full knowledge of the museum’s facilities, exhibits and exhibitions and be able to convey information regarding other visitor attractions locally.

General Responsibilities

  • To assist with learning activities and any other income generating activity.
  • Support all members of the Visitor Experience Team to achieve and maintain standards to the highest possible level.
  • Attend briefings and meetings as set out by the Visitor Experience Manager and to participate in an enthusiastic and proactive way.
  • Carry out administration tasks on a regular basis.
  • Complete daily check lists of the galleries
  • Assist with keeping all front of house areas clean and well presented, including clearing away after events and assisting with event set-ups.
  • To monitor the flow of visitors and queue manage.
  • Deal with complaints empathically and positively making every effort to resolve them yourself or seeking further advice from managers/colleagues.

The successful candidate will have the ability to exceed visitor’s expectations, using your knowledge to answer their questions, and opening their eyes to the experiences and opportunities we offer.

The successful candidate will have a passion for the role and have the ability to inspire both visitors and colleagues through infecting them with their passion.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Enthusiasm for providing a superb visitor experience
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Excellent inter-personal and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to work on own initiative.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • A responsible, professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to make decisions and seek solutions under pressure.
