The Bassetlaw Museum is a museum in Retford, Nottinghamshire that cares for the past for the benefit of the present and the future. Working in partnerships with communities, it explores the stories of North Nottinghamshire from the earliest people to the present day. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to join our small and friendly team. The focus of this role will be to assist with the day to day running of the museum and help members of the public discover, enrich and enjoy their heritage through displays, events, children’s activities and research. You will also help to look after the collections and document them on our MODES database.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience of working in a similar environment, using social media and have experience of helping events.
Bassetlaw is an attractive place to live and work. It includes the most northerly district of Nottinghamshire; bordering Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire with two main population centres - Retford and Worksop, each surrounded by a network of picturesque villages. All of our three offices in Worksop, Retford and Carlton Forest are easily accessible from the M1 and A1.
We are an ambitious, creative and innovative Council and we are seeking the right candidate to support us in our ambitious Growth agenda for the District.
We will value your contributions, give you access to a free healthcare cash plan and benefits, offer a very generous 26-32 days holiday package (rising incrementally each year) plus public/bank holidays, and give you the option to purchase additional annual leave tax-free. We will double your monthly pension contributions and provide the option to join our shared cost AVC scheme, offer discounted car parking of around £4 per month, and family friendly policies. All new employees will be able to choose a welcome gift from the following options; 3 months free BPL gym membership, 1 years National Trust, British Heritage or RSPB Membership. Alternatively you can opt for a tree to be planted in the Bassetlaw area.
We value the diversity of our people and actively encourage applications from all sections of the community. We maintain fair and well thought out recruitment processes at every stage to make sure that everyone is treated equally.
