Job Purpose
As a nanny it is your responsibility to take care of your charges, keep them safe and clean. Plan meals and organise creative and educational activities based on the child’s age and developmental stage. Ultimately you will reassure parents that even when they are not around their child remains in a safe and pleasant environment. The nanny maybe tasked with keeping the family environment neat and tidy and completing household chores. Part of the nanny’s is to prepare healthy well-balanced meals for the children and or the family.
Family information and logistics
Three Children aged 9, 9 and 6 years old.
Term time only
Some additional care will be needed during the Summer Holidays.
Working with Mum being a supportive role.
Need access to a car and a clean licence.
Duties
1. To build professional relationships with the children and family.
2. To follow an agreed routine for mealtimes, bath rimes and bedtimes.
3. To do everything possible to maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to work in. This may involve light domestic duties and ensuring all children’s environments are clean and tidy.
4. To learn about the children’s and families specific needs and routines are followed.
5. To assist the children with their medical needs as necessary, keeping accurate records as required.
6. To make sure your T-shirt is clean and ironed, and you wear your ID badge.
7. To make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
8. To ensure your own personal hygiene is to a high standard.
9. To ensure the Children and maintain personal cleanliness, general hygiene and appearance, following the families guidelines.
10. To follow families’ guidelines in any nappy changing and toileting procedures.
11. To understand and follow all safeguarding guidelines, policies and procedures.
12. To keep up to date with all first aid training and guidelines.
13. To be punctual and reliable to fulfil your role.
14. Ensure that you keep yourself up to date with all procedures and policy changes, relevant to your role.
15. To drive and have access to a vehicle for work purposes if required. You maybe required to regularly transport the young children to activities and education settings. To keep your vehicle in good working order and have full business insurance cover if required.
16. You have a duty (under Health & Safety Legislation) to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others. This means having an understanding of hazards in the workplace, comply with safety rules and procedures and ensure that anything you do or don’t do puts yourself or others at risk. This includes following all current guidelines for car seats and fixings.
17. Undertake any other additional duties as required, which are relevant to the post.
18. Inform Freedom of any changed to your driving licence.
Experience and Qualifications required
Level 3 in Childcare desirable
Paediatric Firs Aid
Safeguarding L2
Food, Health and Hygiene L2
*All successful applicants will be required to complete Mandatory Courses:
FGM
Prevent/radicalisation
Safeguarding
Food Hygiene if relevant for your role.
Additional Skills and Knowledge
1. An understanding of the developmental stages of young children.
2. A sound knowledge and understanding of working with the EYFS, and how this contributes towards planning activities to extend children’s development.
3. Awareness of what equal opportunities and discrimination are and how it can be prevented.
4. Ability to work as directed and complete tasks reliably and to the required standard.
5. Ability to participate and plan indoor & outdoor activities with the children, in all weathers.
6. To be able to communicate clearly and easily with children and their family in a variety of ways.
7. Ability to read and understand written work and to record and feedback and relevant information.
8. Ability to form appropriate relationships with the children, and others involved in their care, whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries.
9. Experience of lone working.

This can be a demanding role and has the potential to be stressful at times. Obviously, people’s state of health is dynamic; with this in mind regular supervision, communication and support is in place to manage your welfare and ensure you are in a robust state of health in order to perform the role.
