Historic England are excited to announce our new National Blue Plaques Scheme Co-ordinator role, supporting the launch of this brand new commemoration programme.

The National Blue Plaques Scheme Co-ordinator is a key member of the National Blue Plaques team. They will ensure the smooth running of the scheme, supporting the Blue Plaques Manager to ensure all aspects of the programme are delivered effectively.

This is a part time role - 2.5 days a week and a two year fixed term contract. You can be based out of one of our national offices, inclusive with hybrid working.

What you will be doing

You will monitor the public Blue Plaques inbox, replying to emails and escalating any that need the attention of the Blue Plaque Manager.

As the Blue Plaque Manager, you will run the annual nomination process, from helping to make sure we get the most diverse range of people being nominated for a plaque through to the sifting process and shortlisting.

You will manage any volunteers who may engage with the scheme in some capacity and keep the Blue Plaque Panel updated on meetings: preparing agendas and papers for the blue plaque panel meetings; minute meetings and share subsequent meeting minutes.

You will liaise with the Historic England Freedom of Information team, Legal team, Communications and Media team, Content and Digital teams and Philanthropy teams to provide information and content needed on Blue Plaques.
