Job description

The Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) are two separate companies operating together to provide service and support for those involved in radiography. Together they comprise the professional body and trade union for those practicing in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

The Society of Radiographers has an exciting opportunity to join our team of National and Regional Officers. We are looking for a positive and knowledgeable leader with the skills, capacity and enthusiasm to influence and lead on all aspects of industrial relations across Scotland.

The Role

Working in partnership with the existing National Officer for Scotland, on a job share basis, the National Officer will advise, support, coach and lead our team of local Representatives working across Health boards and private sector Health providers in all areas of their work supporting SoR members. They will also seek to influence national Health policy and outcomes for SoR members by making representations to employers and wider stakeholders. These include the Scottish Parliament, in partnership with the Society’s Scottish Executive Committee and other health unions in Scotland.

They will also co-ordinate and help deliver our Representative recruitment, development and training programmes to seek full Representative coverage across member workplaces. They will maximise the effectiveness of local member support and engagement across Scotland and help shape and develop our UK wide programmes. The role allows a high degree of flexibility and will be home based, with some of the work delivered virtually. However, as a national role there will be a requirement for travel, including occasional overnight stays away from home.

Who we are looking for

You will have experience of campaigning and industrial relations, and negotiations at senior level, plus a working understanding of key employment law and regulations along with experience of industrial relations case management. You will also have an understanding of how to champion equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and why this work is so important.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

We are committed to cultivating an inclusive and diverse workplace as we believe that this fosters creativity and innovation and is representative of the world around us, and everyone is eligible to apply.

We would particularly like to encourage people who are protected by the Equalities Act to apply, especially those from an ethnically diverse background to ensure we are representing the true diversity of our membership body.

Additionally, if you need assistance with your application, or a reasonable adjustment to the recruitment and selection process – for example, because you are neurodivergent, or have a physical, sensory, cognitive, mental, visible or invisible disability – please let us know, and we will be happy to help.

Whatever way you like to work, and whatever your background, if you have the skills, experience, talent and commitment to join our team, we would like to hear from you.
