Navigation Sensors Engineer

Location: Bristol - Onsite 2-3 Days per week

Clearance: Must be able to obtain or hold active SC Clearance!*

The Opportunity:

Europe's #1 Integrated Defence Company seeks a talented Navigation Sensors Engineer to help support the development of navigation technologies for guided missiles systems.


The Role:

Working alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team, your role would involve optimising system performance through integrating sensors to ensure accurate and reliable navigation across various operational scenarios and environmental conditions.


Additionally, you’ll engage in thorough research, design, and testing to help drive advancements in the navigation systems with a particular focus on Inertial Navigation (INS), Satellite Guidance, GPS, Autonomous Navigation and Anti Jamming technologies.


Collaborating with experts in propulsion, control systems, and materials engineering to continually innovate and enhance the products security and reliability.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience developing/integrating Navigation Sensor related technologies; Guidance Systems, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), GPS, Anti-jamming, Autonomous Navigation, Real-Time Processing – Highly Desirable
  • Hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline - Physics, Electronics, Systems, Aerospace, or similar.
  • Capable of strategic planning, precise work control, and strong analytical problem-solving.
  • Brings experience from a relevant engineering industry, with an appreciation for system design and integration challenges.
  • Exhibits proficiency in modelling, including the use of tools such as MATLAB (desirable but not essential).
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication, presentation skills, and a basic understanding of project management processes.


Benefits Package:

  • Base salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (DoE)
  • Annual Bonus: Circa £2,500 per annum - Pro-Rata
  • Annual Salary Review: Increase varies year to year and is based on your performance – up to 6.5% uplift in 2023
  • Dynamic Working: Where possible, the company will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working.
  • Dynamic Pay (Overtime): Flat rate (1.00) Mon- Fri and at 1.25 on weekends. Optionally accrued after contracted 38 hours working week
  • Dynamic Leave (Flexi Leave): Non-contractual benefit of up to 15 days a year of additional leave. This is where individuals have worked beyond their regular contractual hours to respond to business needs.
  • Pension: Pension 14% (6% Employee and 8% Employer)
  • Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Share Incentive Plan: Opportunity to purchase shares via payroll before tax and NI.
  • Company Sick Pay: This ranges from 6 weeks for the first six months of service and scales up to 48 weeks after five years of service.
