Job description

Summary:

We are looking for a financially able individual to join our Small Providers team, to be responsible for undertaking proportionate regulation of all small, registered housing providers, to gain assurance that they are well governed and financially viable. Reporting to the Small Provider Manager (Finance), you will deliver high quality, effective regulation with specific focus on financial and viability standards.

This role involves working as part of a small team and involves leading direct engagement with providers where you will be expected to show judgement and autonomy.
This is an exciting time to join us as we grow our team so that from April, we can deliver an expanded, proactive consumer regulation function. This also means there will be ample opportunity to develop your skills and experience with us.

Job Description:

Your role will include ensuring effective regulation of around 1100 small registered social housing providers. You will carry out reviews of financial records and projections to obtain assurance of compliance with key regulatory standards and will use your judgement and financial expertise to recommend the most appropriate regulatory response where compliance with financial standards requires improvement.  You will also work with providers to ensure remediation plans are implemented to ensure on-going viability of providers.

The role has much autonomy and you will work with a large variety of organisations from small almshouse charities, Abbeyfields and housing co-operatives, to housing associations with up to 1,000 units of social housing. No two days will be the same!

Responsibilities:

As our successful candidate, you will not only have high calibre financial acumen, but should also have excellent skills and experience in evaluating multiple sources of information to reach sound conclusions. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of good organisational governance and of strategies organisations use to manage risk and to provide quality services. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working with external stakeholders, including many volunteers as well as senior executives, from a huge variety of organisations.

It is extremely important that you are able to demonstrate your ability to plan and manage your own workload, and will also be able to work effectively as part of a small dynamic team.
