Overview:
As a Modern Apprentice at SOSE, you’ll work with a specific team and will undertake a range of duties while also working towards completion of your SVQ qualification in either Digital Applications Support (level 6) or Data Analysis (level 8). The purpose of the apprenticeship is to gain a recognised, relevant SVQ qualification while you work and we will support you through that process as part of your day-to-day role.
Responsibilities:
- We are looking for apprentices to join us in a number of key areas: Economic Development - cycling infrastructure, Net Zero - carbon footprint and Insights - research and data analysis
- Economic Development remit: this apprenticeship will be focused on the coordination, monitoring, evaluation and administration to support the ongoing delivery of the South of Scotland Cycling Partnership Strategy Priority Action Plan and the Cycling Infrastructure Fund as well as support for the wider team and related projects. You will complete the SVQ in Digital Applications Support (level 6).
- Net Zero remit: The apprentice will help to embed Net Zero activities within SOSE from analysing and reporting on key data, through to effectively communicating our carbon footprint and current Net Zero activity. You will receive training in carbon literacy and be an advocate for how we, and others, can take the necessary steps to Net Zero, as an organisation, through our
work with our clients and as a region. You will complete the SVQ in Digital Applications Support (level 6).
Required skills:
- Good level of general education at SCQF level 5 or above, including maths and English at grade C or above
- Good standard of IT literacy and digital proficiency
- Flexible and adaptable, embracing the dynamic nature of our young organisation
- The ability and the drive to take ownership of your work and see things through to completion
- Successful candidates will be pro-active, motivated, and, above all, really enthusiastic about the apprenticeship you’re applying for
Salary:
£24,773 per annum
Working hours:
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

- This role is a full-time apprenticeship for a period of 18 months and you will be based at one of our offices either at Selkirk or Dumfries
