We provide a definitive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering civil & structural engineering, building & quantity surveying, clerk of works, project management, employers agent, architecture, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, building information modelling, development monitoring, expert witness, rights of light, party wall and health & safety.


Description:

This role is suitable for a candidate with an enthusiasm and passion for energy efficiency, sustainable design, and low carbon technologies.

The role will provide you with an opportunity to become an integral part of our successful Sustainability team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of projects including sustainability assessments, planning reports and client liaison.

Person Specification:

The candidate is expected to be enthusiastic, well organised, and professional. They must contribute towards the positive and collaborative environment within the team. The candidate is expected to be proactive with their learning, personal development and adopting the high standards and quality of the team.

General:

Basic hours: 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., five days per week.

Holidays: Between 24 and 30 days depending upon years of service.

Location:

Based at one of Kent, London or Cambridge offices but providing support to all other offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a wide range of projects including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial and educational.
  • Attend meetings alongside senior consultants to build relationships with the clients and multidisciplinary design teams as the Sustainability consultant.
  • Develop and present project sustainability design proposals to the project team and client.
  • Assist senior consultants in project assessments including Part L (SAP, SBEM), Part O, BREEAM, HQM and other industry assessments.
  • Undertake Building Physics modelling and Overheating simulations and present report findings.
  • Undertake energy surveys of buildings.
  • Prepare high quality information including sustainability assessments, planning reports, presentations.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients.
  • Continue to improve your own technical knowledge.
  • Report resource information to senior group managers.

Competencies:

  • Hold an academic or industry qualification related to sustainability or design is desirable.
  • Knowledge of low carbon and sustainable design and London Plan Energy Policy.
  • A good understanding of Part L assessments (SAP/SBEM).
  • A good understanding of Home Quality Mark and BREEAM Assessments, under both BREEAM New Construction 2018 and BREEAM Refurbishment & Fit-out 2014.
  • Ability to use CAD and/or IESVE.
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Performance Requirements/Objectives:

  • On a daily basis, provide support to the team, deal with client related issues and provide professional services as required.
  • Each month ensure that project and team progress reports are completed and report to the senior team.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Mange projects effectively and to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Maintain high quality project records and information.
  • Attend group meetings.
  • Develop your own knowledge and technical expertise.
