Job description

Network Architect/Senior Network Architectis urgently required by a Global and leading IT Services Provider in the defence sector, for an initial 3 months rolling contract, to be based in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • The successful Network Architect will be an experienced Network Architect
  • Must have strong experience and in-depth knowledge of delivering delivery complex IDS/IPS network solutions
  • The successful Network Architect will be required to work on a new, large program supporting the delivery of a complex IDS/IPS network solution.
  • The Network Architect will provide technical leadership within this program to the Project and Program Managers.
  • The Network Architect's role will involve network design (using Firepower, F5 and Gigamon, including passing through any governance reviews, and will provide technical support during the build, implementation/configuration and test phases, as well as ensuring successful handover to service.
  • Experienced in analysis of customer requirements, with demonstrable network design (high level and low level) experience in proposing and utilising technologies from a variety of industry leading technology vendors.
  • Practical skills and knowledge in Networking, and Network Management. Specific technical skills include Juniper certification (switching and configuration), network encryption and tunnelling technologies, SNMPv3, Cisco Firepower Management Centre, Firepower IDS and IPS, background in secure network design, F5 and Gigamon (SSL interception and packet broker).
  • Strong general network skills including WAN routing including MPLS, BGP.
  • Familiarity with Endace technologies, HSMs, vitalisation are desirable.
  • Solid understanding of the project end-to-end life cycle, with good commercial and financial awareness in terms of understanding risks and dependencies associated with any delivery project.
  • Experienced in the analysis and troubleshooting of complex issues and defects, mitigating business, technical, and operational risks, and making recommendations to senior management.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with multiple teams, supporting project managers in planning and reporting activities, service readiness, and providing guidance and support to live service teams.
  • Excellent client facing experience
