As an apprentice in our dynamic Energy Operations team, your contributions will leave a lasting impact on millions of people, quietly ensuring the seamless functionality of our network without them even realising it.

What to Expect…

Embark on an empowering 4-year apprenticeship experience that breaks free from the traditional classroom. Immerse yourself in a dynamic hands-on learning environment, dedicating 80% of your time to collaborative work with seasoned engineering professionals in the field. Our programme is meticulously designed to sculpt you into a skilled engineer with expertise spanning diverse domains, from cable testing to control systems maintenance and everything in between. Throughout this transformative apprenticeship, you'll receive personalised guidance from our experienced engineers who are committed to nurturing your skills, preparing you to confidently step into your Qualified role with us. Engage in the fascinating intricacies of the role by mastering inspections and essential maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentation systems at our gas pressure reduction sites, showcasing your prowess in expertly diagnosing electrical problems. You’re learning, though, goes beyond the above and you will learn to actively contribute to operational activities, including fault finding and repair of electrical and instrumentation assets. Encompassing monitoring, rewiring, and handling other non-routine operations, ensuring the safety and flawless operation of our expansive network.

The remaining 20% will immerse you in our own cutting-edge training centre in Peterborough. Here, you'll join forces with fellow apprentices, guided by our exceptional trainers—the cream of the crop with years of field experience who have now dedicated themselves to shaping the next generation. During your apprenticeship you will have 1-week block training weeks over the two years, with a focus on intensive training during the initial 6 months. Upon joining, you'll receive a comprehensive training plan with dates when you will be away -  worry not though—full accommodation, travel reimbursement, and meal allowance will be provided if you find yourself away from home.

Upon successful qualification and completion of the apprenticeship, we guarantee you a secure role within our team! Equipped with full proficiency and confidence, you'll be adept at working independently, with readily available support if required. Your role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of gas to our customers, focusing on the maintenance and repair of faults within our network.
