We provide a structured preceptorship program tailored for Newly Qualified Midwives. This program is designed to guide, develop, and empower individuals, enabling them to pursue their career aspirations as a Midwife.

Band 5 Midwives will undergo an robust and award-winning preceptorship programme over a 12–18-month period. During this time, we will offer continuous support to ensure you acquire the necessary skills and qualities needed for progression into a professional and confident Band 6 midwife.
Upon completion of the preceptorship programme, you will be required to work in all areas of the service which include obstetric, theatre and the community across all three sites, if necessary.
You will be working in collaboration with other multidisciplinary professionals enhancing and promoting the health and wellbeing of mothers and neonates in line with local and national standards relating to maternity care and referrals as appropriate.
Duties will include:
- Assess, plan and deliver total midwifery care for a caseload of women within the community, prioritising workload and management of time.
- Identify, plan and implement care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in relation to families with complex psycho-social needs e.g. child protection.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records on the women and babies care at all times, including all discussions on care and information given. Ensuring the safekeeping and storage of all confidential materials
- Ensure multidisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care for women using maternity services
- Act as a clinical role model promoting professional, competent standards, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team.
