Waking Night Support Worker

A breakthrough can seem like the smallest thing, but it can make the world of difference to someone on the autism spectrum. By becoming a Waking Night Support worker at The National Autistic Society’s Clayton Croft Children’s Home you’ll help make every day breakthroughs happen more often.

The National Autistic Society, Clayton Croft Children’s Home, based in South Yorkshire is recruiting for;

Permanent Night Waking Support Workers to work at Clayton Croft residential children’s home at the Robert Ogden School, Clayton Lane, Thurnscoe, S63 0BG. You’ll be working with autistic children and their families in a residential environment.

This residential service provides 24-hour support to children and young people aged 8 to 19 within the children’s home. We support to develop further social, communication, independence and coping skills. The house supports children and young people who are very active and outgoing and have a range of needs and individual challenges.

As a Night Waking Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the children complete their night time routine, are safeguarded throughout the night, complete physical checks, document the children’s sleep patterns and food and fluid intake.

Completing medication audits, witnessing medication, cleaning the home, food preparation as well as ensuring the children clothing is washed and ironed. We need you to be resilient, supportive and sensitive towards the needs of autistic people.

You may have a personal connection, a desire to work with or real-life experiences working with autistic people. You might not have lots of experience yet, but if you share our values and are willing to make a difference to the lives of autistic people, we’d love to hear from you.

Successful candidates will complete a full induction and staff are expected to complete training courses and refreshers that enhance their professional development and this will be discussed at interview.

Staff who don’t have their maths and English or level 3 diploma will be expected to complete the qualification following a successful probation.
