We are looking for a communications coordinator who is driven to learn and improve, understands people and their values, and who wants to get stuck in to all aspects of communications and engagement, from planning and delivery to evaluation, to join our team as a Communications Coordinator.

In this role you’ll work alongside the people who are bringing life-changing diagnostics, treatments and prevention to patients in the NHS, working in a creative and supportive team across both the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Our NIHR Biomedical Research Centre is filled with world-class research teams and we want to share their amazing stories with our audiences.

The NIHR Leicester BRC is a partnership between the University of Leicester, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Loughborough University and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group. It has been funded £26.1 million to carry out pioneering research into medical advancements into illnesses linked to respiratory and infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and type 2 diabetes, personalised cancer prevention and treatment, Environment – looking at how the environment impacts on long term health conditions - and Using data to better understand multiple long term health conditions and factors specific to the health of ethnic minority populations. chronic kidney disease and the consequences of inactivity will continue to push boundaries of knowledge in clinical medicine.  We also provide community engagement and public involvement opportunities to make sure our research is shaped by the people who are set to benefit from it.

The successful candidate will be a great communications all-rounder, able to support a wide range of communications and engagement work, from media relations, to social media content creation and campaigns; events and conferences; internal communications; and patient engagement and involvement, for the research and innovation service.

The post holder will help the research communications team to fulfil three main priorities:

  1. Increase participant recruitment and retention to studies, and gather their feedback to improve services
  2. Increase staff engagement and develop an inclusive research culture at the Trust
  3. Disseminate scientific outputs and findings to increase impact on knowledge, opinion and behaviours of key stakeholders

 

Contributions to these priorities will be underpinned by equality, diversity and inclusion, and analysis and evaluation – ensuring that our work remains equitable, focused and of high value.
