NPD / Specifications Technologist

Procure Recruitment Group are recruiting for a talented and skilled NPD / Specifications Technologist to join our client, a leading manufacturing business, in their high performing team.

The role is a full time, permanent role based at our client purpose built and impressive manufacturing facility.

The Specification Technologist will create finished product specifications and manage the specification process for all customers, within set timescales. Manage all documentation for new and existing raw material specifications and their suppliers. Request and manage the approval of all raw materials and suppliers through each customer process.

The main duties include:

• Review and approve product specifications for multiple customers via differing formats.
• Liaise with NPD, Procurement, Customer Accounts, Quality, and other parties to complete in house product specifications within agreed timescales.
• Conduct annual reviews of all raw material and finished product specifications to ensure they are up to date.
• Approve new raw materials and their suppliers, including liaising with customers to approve via their processes and systems.
• Maintain allergen records
• Hold meetings to review the status of approvals and specifications.
• Ensure all necessary legislative information is incorporated into specifications.
• Always work in compliance to the BRC standard and be able to present and provide evidence for the annual BRC audit.
• Work in collaboration with the sustainability, packaging and procurement teams as required.
• Review the supplier and raw material approval process - develop a process and documents that will support efficient completion and ensure the business always has consistent and relevant information.
• Always promote a culture of cooperation with regards to health and safety and lead by good example.
• Follow COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health) regulations on the correct usage of all chemicals.
