NQ In-house Lawyer - Commercial/Construction/Energy: Newcastle

As one of the biggest engineering and consultancy organisations in the world, my client is widely regarded as an industry leader and an employer of choice across the board. Due to a massive expansion in energy-focused work, my client has an opening for a talented junior lawyer (either a qualified solicitor or legal executive who has qualified through the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) in Newcastle to support its Energy team on a number of high quality and important projects.
This is a very wide-ranging role which spreads across multiple areas, and so it is important that candidates applying for this role have exposure in the areas my client operates in. Of particular interest to my client will be candidates who have previous experience in the construction sector or who have worked in private practice on construction law matters. Of equal importance is for candidates to have good general commercial contracts skills as well as a real and tangible passion/desire to get involved in energy-focused work. If you are therefore a newly-qualified or junior post-qualified lawyer who has some/all of these elements, and you are keen on a move in-house, then this could be the perfect role for you.
The role will involve the successful candidate being responsible for managing legal risk in relation to engineering consultancy appointments within the energy discipline. Reviewing and drafting appointments in addition to contract negotiation and advising on issues that may arise within contracts will form a significant part of the role. It is also important for candidates applying to have good relationship building skills as this role will involve liaising and assisting various teams across the business and being able to communicate legal concepts and solutions in an easy-to-understand language to influential stakeholders at various levels.
This opportunity will be based out of my client\'s Newcastle office. Hybrid working is available for this role, however all candidates must be capable of commuting to the Newcastle office for business needs as and when.
