About the role
We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our friendly, passionate and hard-working nursing team at Georgetown Hospital on Ascension Island. Living and working in Ascension presents a unique opportunity for you to deliver you professional role in this challenging but fascinating environment.
What you’ll do
As part of the nursing team at Georgetown Hospital you will be working with our two Doctors and the rest of the hospital team to provide patient care and support to all the residents of Ascension Island. You will be on a rota with your colleagues to work 37.5 hours a week which includes some night shifts as well as work at weekends and public holidays. Specifically, the role involves clinical nursing duties on a cycle of morning, afternoon and night shifts such that a night shift can be expected once every 5 days.
What you’ll bring
You will be a qualified nurse who understands and works to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses and Midwives. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people with physiotherapy experience and qualifications in addition to general nursing practice as the role is planned to include duties as a physio assistant, working under the supervision of a visiting physiotherapist. Successful candidates will be expected to be prepared to undergo limited physiotherapy training for this purpose. To thrive here you will need to be resilient, adaptable and able to operate successfully in a very small, remote and diverse community.
What we offer
In addition to an annual salary in a range from £16,780 to £21,525 (depending on qualifications and experience and taxable on Ascension), the role attracts a two -year accompanied status contract (partner and children can come with you) and the following allowances and benefits:
