Job description

Main duties / Responsibilities 1. To oversee colleagues carrying out the required pre-employment health screening of prospective employees including telephone and face to face reviews to provide recommendations for managers in supporting staff with long term health conditions or disabilities. The post holder will also be responsible for undertaking assessments of more complex cases. 2. To be proactive in the implementation of the organisations positive attendance and Health and Wellbeing policies, including monthly case review meetings with HR/Workforce representatives to work proactively to support staff and managers in preventing recurring sickness episodes. 3. To provide support to individual employees to facilitate return to work, advising the organisation on rehabilitation/reasonable adjustments in the workplace to sustain a successful return to work. 4. The post holder will ensure all reports to managers are of high quality. 5. To be responsible for providing advice to managers and employees in relation to the role and function of Occupational Health and Wellbeing in the workplace. 6. To support staff induction programmes as part of the raising awareness of the OH function. 7. To provide advice on work place risk assessments in relation to Health and safety with the organisations Health and Safety Officer, specifically DSE, Stress, Pregnant worker risk assessments. 8. To support and liaise with the OH Admin role to manage a case load effectively and proactively based on referrals to the service. 9. To assist the OH Administrator in the production of robust and reliable statistical information required for internal and external review, eg CQUINN Influenza / Vaccination data. 10. To instigate, and deliver ongoing Health and Wellbeing campaigns across the organisation in line with national agendas, and any local health surveillance trends. 11. Identify OH cover when required from external services, managing ongoing caseload to ensure continuity of timely provision of access to OH services. 12. Identify staff who require specialist assessment with an Occupational Health Physician and liaise with external OH Services for these referrals. 13. To participate/instigate Occupational Health surveys/audits as required by the organisation 14. Assess and analyse health issues and health information in the workforce, deciding upon courses of action and methods of moving forward with the aim of improving staff and organisational issues thus benefiting both. 15. To advise/facilitate and provide the required vaccinations for employees, ensuring the organisation is aware of any new/different requirements based on national advice. 16. To order and manage stock control of vaccinations stored within OH in compliance with the Cold Chain Policy. 17. To ensure all PGD and Policies relating to Vaccinations are updated and accurate and fit for use within OH. 18. To instigate, develop and implement annual Influenza campaign within Navigo, working across the organisation with all stakeholders 19. To work with the Training Team to ensure timely and sufficient peer vaccination and anaphylaxis training in line with National training standard requirements. 20. Deliver an ongoing campaign of workplace vaccination for staff as relevant to their role, e.g. Hepatitis B vaccination, surveillance and boosters. 21. To work closely with external Counselling and Physiotherapy referral services and internal services for Complementary Therapies for staff and collect data from staff satisfaction surveys to assess the quality and benefits for staff wellbeing from these services. 22. To work closely with internal and external specialist advisors ensuring appropriate referrals to access services are completed. 23. To participate in development and review of all documentation used within OH to meet the needs of the service. 24. Support and empower members of staff to use available services, information and skills to the full and to participate in decisions concerning their care. 25. To respond and advise managers to provide urgent support for staff who may need intervention to access or receive immediate care or advice. 26. Where required advise on reasonable adjustments as required by the Equality Act 2010.
