This is an exciting role within our Corporate Health department, supporting employees of our corporate clients. The Occupational Health Case Manager delivers case management though the identification of possible reasons for ill health or injury and considering the most appropriate intervention needed to reduce the risk of employee being absent from work and the need for the employee to undertake modified duties. This is a varied role that requires sound clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a problem solving mindset. The role is based in our Tewkesbury office and is being recruited on a full-time, permanent basis.
Salary £25-30k depending on experience and relevant qualifications.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish the current reason for ill health/injury and identify any underlying cause or contributory risk factorsTo be instrumental in the multidisciplinary assessment process by ensuring information is gained sufficient to assess: personal and occupational risk factorsTo effectively communicate to the employee, the multifactorial issues associated with the current episode of ill health/injury and how they can personally address the risk factors within their locus of controlWhere required access the most appropriate treatment intervention via the NHS or the private sector using the most effective method of funding applicable for the medical conditionTo help the customers line management/HR/Health and Safety managers understand the implications of the assessment, and make clear the recommendations and likelihood of success and any associated cost without breaching the ICO requirements (processing of sensitive personal data)To achieve the critical success factors within the various aspects of Case Management including: reduction in sickness absence; reduction in modified duties; minimisation of any cost of 3rd party suppliers including the costs within the Healthcare Plans; prompt return to normal duties or where appropriate alternative duties or exit from the business; case closure to be agreed when resolution complete.Essential SkillsQualifications:
Qualified: physiotherapist, corrective exercise professional, counsellor, CBT practitioner, nutritionist, physiologist, nurse or other appropriately qualified professional.Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade A-CSkills and Experience:
Ability to use Microsoft office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointDemonstrate confident telephone skills using effective listening and empathy with employees and stakeholders, covering both inbound and outbound callsAdopt an investigatory approach to cases and to ensure that all obstacles are identified and removed where necessary and or appropriateDemonstrates analytical and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of Clinical and non-clinical care pathwaysUnderstands and demonstrates GDPR, DPA & ICO rules and guidelines relating to customersUnderstands general Occupational Health and legal principles.How to effectively manage an integrated health approach to the prevention and management of workplace ill health/injuryHow to conduct telephone assessments and feedback using motivational interviewing or similar techniques.Other job titles for this role may include physiotherapist, sports therapist, Occupational Health advisor, disability assessor, nurse, Case Manager, occupational therapist
