Occupational Health Nurse

To undertake screening duties, assist with Occupational Health assessment clinics, immunisation/vaccination programmes, health surveillance, health promotional activities, and health & safety issues. Assist with the delivery of internal Occupational Health Services and to other external agencies. Key Responsibilities To undertake role of Band 5 Nurse within the Walsall Healthcare Occupational Health Department for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, and others as required. Will take charge of Occupational Health Department in absence of a more senior member of staff. General Duties Assist in the provision of a comprehensive Occupational Health service to Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, NHS Walsall and external Clients. Responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and implementation of basic Occupational Health care. This will be achieved by using a client centred approach in the provision of care which meets their physical and psychological needs whilst supporting the legal and managerial needs of the employer. To provide advice/care to staff taken ill or injured at work. Liaise with Accident & Emergency Department, GP's or other outside agencies for their continuing care, if required. Maintain the service to meet the standards and outcomes identified by the in Service Manager in line with DOH guidance and legal requirements. Managing own clinical caseload; undertake a range of health assessments, ensuring that managers are advised of any necessary adjustment to work practice and/or environment to ensure safe employment. Providing advice to managers and staff in relation to work, health and well-being issues. Carry out clinical tasks, health surveillance and procedures in accordance with written policies, procedures and group directions. Deliver core services to allocated divisions, staff groups and external clients. Accountable and responsible for accurate, comprehensive, legible record keeping in both written and electronic format and in accordance with local policies, NMC guidelines and the General Data Protection Regulation. To assist overall service manager in developing changes aimed at continuing improvement to service delivery through research, updating procedures/policies/guidelines, internal monitoring, monthly audit and client feedback. Assist in the delivery of health promotion and relevant training programmes to junior staff and students within the department, employees of the Trust's and commercial clients. Ensure clinical areas & equipment within the department are maintained at high standards of cleanliness, where applicable, following manufacturers guidance. Work collaboratively, with other clinical professionals and disciplines to ensure a seamless service is delivered to clients and managers. Represent the Occupational Health and Well-being Department at relevant Trust and external business meetings as required. Is a car driver/owner. The nature of this post will require travel off site, often with equipment, therefore independent mobility is essential. Willing to work outside of normal department hours (early mornings and late finishes)
