Job Description
This is a hybrid role where you will be required to travel to several of our operational sites in and around the London, Reading, and Thames Valley area for three days per and work onsite or at home for two days per week doing administration tasks.
What you’ll be doing as an Occupational Health Technician
- The OHT will undertake agreed clinical activities relevant to the Occupational Health services including safety critical medicals, health surveillance and drug and alcohol screening.
- Undertake workplace visits for any issues relating to health at work relating to the OHT’s scope of practice.
- Be accountable for delivery, recording and reporting health surveillance and escalating results of concern to either the OHA or OH Physician.
- Ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality-assured, evidence-based practice.
- Work largely unsupervised at times both in the department and at other premises, delivering high-standard OH services to clients allocated to their care.
- Assist the Occupational Health nursing staff in supporting the clinical activities of the business.
- Be responsible for cleaning and stock-checking clinical areas as per protocols and checklists. Help maintain clinical supplies and ensure that all clinical rooms are suitably maintained for the clinics to be carried out.
- Comply with all Thames Water policies, procedures, and practices and be responsible for keeping up to date with any changes to these.
- Participating in the planning and delivery of health promotion/education initiatives at both a local and organisational level.
- Responding professionally to all people who may have dealings with the Occupational Health.
- Administration Duties.
- Working hours: 36 hours per week.
- Experience in safety-critical medicals/ physicals is essential.
- Willingness to travel as required by the business.
- Experience and confidence in working with IT systems.
- Have a working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- To be able to demonstrate they have worked within a health care setting or similar discipline and can undertake and perform technical procedures.
- You will be personable and have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships within all areas of the business.
- You will be able to work on your initiative and manage your own time.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust as appropriate, own workload to ensure tasks are progressed/completed promptly.
- Attend regular team training and contribute towards the development of ‘new ways of working’.
- Driving licence as regular travel will be needed.
- You should also be competent in Microsoft packages and ideally familiar with clinical databases such as the Cohort software system.
