Job description

LFUK are looking for a Occupational Health Technician to join their clients team in the Speke area.

The Occupational Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) initiatives of the organization. Working under the supervision of an Occupational Health Nurse or Manager, the Technician is responsible for various tasks related to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for employees including assessment for fitness to work. You will need to be flexible to travel UK wide with some overnight stays to meet our customer needs.

The role will involve but is not limited to -

  • Operating from one of our Mobile Health Screening units or at a customer site:
  • Undertake health surveillance procedures in accordance with company protocols, which may include measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, Spirometry, Audiometry, Vision screening, Functional Mobility Assessment and Biological Health Monitoring.
  • The post holder will be required to provide accurate written, electronic, and verbal reports always observing confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for employees, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant Data Protection Legislation.
  • Carrying out Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with the chain of custody procedure.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and wellbeing programs, providing information on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and stress management.
  • Ensuring all equipment is serviceable, clean and fit for purpose.
  • Assist in monitoring and assessing workplace conditions to identify and mitigate potential hazards related to occupational exposures.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health Nurses, Safety Officers, and other relevant personnel to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to Occupational Health and safety.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to Occupational Health, and ensure organizational compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in Occupational Health is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or Occupational Health setting is preferred although training will be given
  • Strong knowledge or ability to learn and undertake basic medical measurements and health assessments.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Good computer skills for maintaining health records and generating reports.
  • Be happy to work unsociable hours as required.
  • Full current driving license essential
  • Demonstrate a self-motivated and proactive approach to work
  • Be able to work effectively both independently and within a team framework
  • Be able to prioritise own workload and have good time management skills
  • Capable of working flexibly and to strict deadlines
  • Understand the importance of treating all clients with respect, dignity and privacy

Key points to consider;

  • This role is peripatetic and involves travelling and working on various client sites nationwide .
  • This role will involve working away from home on a weekly basis with regular overnight stays of up to 3-4 nights a week.
  • Flexibility will be provided, however hours per week may exceed 40 due to travel and needs of the business.
