Job Title: Occupational Therapist Responsible to: Occupational Therapy Manager Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. To undertake assessment and formulate person-centred, goal orientated treatment plans for service users. 2.To carry out appropriate Occupational Therapy intervention as documented in the treatment plan. 3. To continuously evaluate Occupational Therapy intervention and to review as necessary. 4. To record all Occupational Therapy intervention in accordance with College of Occupational Therapy/Health Professions Council guidelines and company standards. 5. To maintain confidentiality of service user information. 6.To undertake Access/Home visits to service users homes as necessary. 7. To ensure a high standard of clinical and professional practice at all times. 8. To comply with all mandatory health and safety requirements and undertake essential training. 9. To participate in clinical audit in accordance with company policy. 10.To abide by the Occupational Therapy professional code of conduct. Communication1. To liaise with members of care staff to ensure understanding of Occupational Therapy procedures. 2. To communicate effectively with external agencies, community teams and families of service users as appropriate. 3. To provide clinical advice and in house training for care staff to ensure understanding of Occupational Therapy. 4. To actively partake in regular supervision sessions with supervisor. 5. To attend and contribute to regular staff meetings, service user review meetings, and include external assessors reviews. Continued Professional Development 1. To ensure continued professional development through reading, attending courses and networking with local and special interest groups. 2. To maintain professional registration and to keep an updated CPD portfolio to support this. 3. To maintain an awareness of current trends in Occupational Therapy and carry out study in relevant areas. 4. To contribute to supervision / appraisal of activity staff members, and to provide fieldwork placements to Occupational Therapy students (assisting supervisors of students of other professions). Training and Supervisory 1. To actively participate in departmental training activities. 2. To participate in joint sessions and specific training to develop skills and knowledge 3. To attend mandatory training in accordance with Fieldbays policy and to attend in-service training and external courses. 4. To participate in the induction of new staff as appropriate This job description indicates the main duties and responsibilities of the post.
