Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Children's Occupational Therapy (OT) team at Seaside View Child Development Centre (CDC) as a Band 3 Paediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant maternity leave cover.
This is a full time, fixed term (12 months), position working alongside our OTs both in the CDC and atnurseries, mainstream and special schools, supporting individuals and groups of children to achieve their OT goals. You will support the registered clinician in reviewing and outcoming the care plans of the children and young people (CYP) accessing the service, working with the parents/carers and school to ensure the best possible level of care is being provided to the child. This can include use of equipment, classroom and environmental changes, regular support and guidance to the family and other professionals working with the CYP.
You will develop your skills as part of the Occupational therapy team (clinicians and other support staff) to provide Occupational Therapy interventions and treatments, overseen by a qualified and experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist. The role of the OT assistant is to implement the treatment plan outlined by the qualified Occupational Therapist
Main duties of the job
You will assist registered occupational therapists in their day-to-day duties, support children and young people with a range of difficulties, under the supervision of registered clinicians. The post requires travel in Brighton and Hove. You will work with children and young people (CYP) in school settings, in clinics based at the CDC, and occasionally in people's homes.
You will deliver support following guidance and care plans devised by registered clinicians and work with CYP and their families to monitor skills, progress, and report back on their progress, liaising with the occupational therapist and other members of the Multi Disciplinary Team. You will also support CYP and their families with the equipment they need, ensuring the make sure clients have all the special aids they need and that the equipment is in good working order.

This post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work within a supportive team of experienced therapists and assistants in providing a high quality assessment and intervention service to children aged 0-19 years, who have a variety of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Coordination Disorder, learning difficulties and complex physical/learning difficulties.
