Are you dynamic and interested in working with adults with a learning disability and additional complex needs?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Support Worker to work in the developing Forensic Service Low Secure, Rehabilitation and Recovery Unit – Amber Lodge
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to be a member of our inpatient ward team that offers specialist treatment programmes and structured working within a positive behavioural support model.
The main aims of the post will be to support and enable patients to develop independent living skills and work towards recovery and vocational goals by providing high quality therapeutic groups and individual activities under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. This will incorporate robust risk management plans and support the work of the qualified staff.
NVQ2 in Care or equivalent is essential and you will be required to work flexible hours.

Some Clinical Responsibilities:
With direction from the Ward Occupational Therapist:
1. Plan, run and evaluate on and off ward sessions comprising of stimulating, motivating and engaging therapeutic activities, independently and in conjunction with other staff
2. Activities should comprise of a variety of interventions including; creative, educational, social, living skills, recreational, practical and skill development, vocational and focus on recovery
3. Work collaboratively with patients and staff to structure activities
4. Undertake group and individual sessions with patients that promote engagement rather than restriction.
5. Contribute to establishing a structure to the day for patients
6. Assist in the continued monitoring, observation and evaluation of patient’s interaction and wellbeing
7. Work closely with members of the ward and multi-disciplinary team, showing a commitment to effective teamwork in the planning and delivery of patient’s care plans and programmes
8. To provide accurate verbal and written reports when necessary, and communicate effectively with all colleagues of any discipline
9. To maintain records of performance for individual patients and to provide data for use at ward rounds and patient reviews
10. To ensure that patient’s records and timetables are updated efficiently
