Functional area: Operations & Maintenance
The O&M commercial Manager is a key member of the Operations Portfolio Management team responsible for delivering commercial operational expertise across the value chain from early stage development through to Operations. The role covers RWE projects globally, working with development, operations and partnering teams across the business units.
Main Responsibilities
- Influence the market/partners in early phase discussions, providing various solutions in order to create favourable opportunities in operational set ups.
- Manage the partner transactions on behalf of O&M in the negotiation of partner setups, scope and responsibility, and governance of collaboration structures as part of the shareholder and service agreement.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with joint venture partners ensuring RWE Renewable’s position is optimised whilst mitigating risks to the business and keeping in mind the global pipeline
- Re-negotiation of existing shareholder and Operational service agreements
- Organising and chairing project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timelines are met.
- Dynamically develop close contacts and regular engagement with internal stakeholders within the business and other relevant parties in the offshore wind sector
- Analyse key competitors and their strategy
- Work with the wider O&M organisation to understand existing service agreements and the challenges faced in order to feed back into developing partnerships
- Assist with the representation of RWE Renewables at local and regional stakeholder events, in networks, conferences and towards respective authorities;
- Provide general commercial expertise within the offshore department as issues arise across the portfolio
- Create and maintain standardised commercial templates/document library to support in commercial discussions with partners but also with the upskilling of the wider business.
- Build and maintain systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient internal control.
- Creation and maintenance of O&M action plans and risk registers to ensure transaction activities are on track and key risks are flagged.
- Identify and evaluate synergies, continuous improvement and technological innovation projects to ensure RWE’s partnering position is maximised.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Experienced professional with at least 5 years of experience in the energy sector in offshore wind concepts, investment management, commercial or business development roles.
- Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience within the wind industry
- Ability to liaise with people from around the RWE business, including allocating and chasing tasks as appropriate
- Familiar with commercial ‘cost / benefit’ analysis methodology
- Effective communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders, both internally (to board level) and externally, in multiple jurisdictions
- Capable to negotiate with a range of potential partners, including development partners; experience of structuring, negotiating and/or managing joint ventures (SHAs, MSDs etc) an advantage
- Strategic thinker but also drill down to the detail at an individual project level
- Effective communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders, both internally (to board level) and externally, in multiple jurisdictions
