As a Laboratory Manager, you'll be involved with the planning, coordination and control of all laboratory and/ or site services operations within your section. You'll make sure services are provided efficiently and where required to the client's time frame to a level of quality.
Responsibilities
You will need to:
- oversee all laboratory/site services and testing schedules;
- ensure that the production is cost effective;
- decide what resources are required;
- draft timescales for the contracts;
- estimate costs and set the quality standards;
- monitor the testing processes and adjust schedules as needed;
- be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment;
- monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes;
- liaise among different departments, e.g. quality, H&S, suppliers, managers;
- work with Managers and Directors to implement the company's policies and goals;
- ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed;
- supervise and motivate a team of workers;
- review worker performance;
- identify training needs and compile training records;
- ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the quality management system in relation to all requirements on BS EN ISO 17025 as required.
- timely completion of test schedules;
- test output levels and team productivity rates;
- accuracy of administration and attention to detail;
- control of overtime appropriate to workload;
- Health & Safety adherence;
- Quality system adherence.
Knowledge & Experience
- 10 years’ experience of working in laboratory environment
- 5 years’ experience managing 17025 accredited laboratories.
- Understands demands of 17025 accredited laboratory.
- Technical Understanding of construction testing.
