Clinical Leader - Oncology

Brighton Hospital | Kestrel Oncology Unit | Nursing | Permanent Contract | Full Time

Up to £47,000.00 per annum depending on experience

37.5 hours per week

As a Sister / Charge Nurse at our Brighton Hospital, you're registered with the appropriate governing body and you have the relevant qualifications and experience, including NMC. With excellent leadership skills, you hold post-registration experience in care of cancer patients, undergoing Systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT).

As a Clinical Leader - Oncology, you will:

  • Support the Unit Manager in the efficient day to day running of the unit.

  • Co-ordinate activity and be responsible for patient care and safety.

  • Have previous experience as a registered nurse with a proven background in Oncology / Haematology /SACT ideally in a day case setting.

  • Have a recognised qualification and competency in the delivery of SACT

  • Evidence of continual post registration and professional development in clinically related cancer studies.

  • Be instrumental to the patient experience, ensuring seamless, personalised care and ensuring the team deliver effective quality care and adhere to safety compliance.

  • Work well with consultants who are experts in their field.

  • Apply your knowledge and skills in assessment, care planning and delivery.

  • Champion a supportive, enabling working culture on the unit, promoting staff safety.

  • Provide support and advice to other staff in the department and support the Director of Clinical Services in the overall management of the healthcare environment.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop own knowledge and practice and promote/support others to continually develop professionally across the cancer services.

  • Improve Quality and safety compliance.

  • Support and lead on the introduction of new technology for the measurement, monitoring and treatment of cancer patients.

  • Seek and employ innovative methods of improving service delivery in line with the 5 CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE) and always aiming to achieve Good to outstanding.

  • Support the Oncology manager in the further development/marketing of the service and deliver against key targets. This will include developing and maintaining a close relationship with the consultants.
