Open Call Out, Visual Artist, Outside, In 2024

We are looking for a Visual Artist for a micro-commission working directly with participants 18+ with lived experience of ill mental health, asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds and B arts advisory and volunteer groups to create a piece of visual art between March - April 2024. The commission will include working with participant groups in their setting and at B arts through planned workshops to co-create a piece of visual art. The commission will culminate in a mini sharing event that includes an element of walking between B arts (Hartshill Road) and Growth Point (Leek Road). This micro-commission and period of research and development work will feed into a larger promenade piece of work, subject to funding.

Outside, In incorporates the themes of walking and mental well-being.

This commission is open to artists working in and across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

Timeline / Schedule

Deadline: Monday 26th February 5pm

Interviews w/c: Monday 26th February

Applicants will hear back: Friday 1st March

Key dates to be available:

Work on project starts w/c: Monday 4th March - Monday 15th April

Showcase event: Week commencing Monday 15th April

Fee £1,200

(fee is inclusive of travel, there is a small additional materials budget)

You will be working with a mixed group of participants to create a piece of work for a walking outdoor showcase event.
