Your new companyHMP Huntercombe is an adult male prison holding foreign nationals. We are currently looking for an operational support grade to work Permanent Nights within the Operational team. You will be required to work 7 consecutive nights, then will receive 7 days off. You will typically be lone working.The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
- Night Duties: ensure cell doors are locked/secure and all prisoners are safely accounted for
- Carry out regular and effective patrols as required by the Night Orderly Officer and Local Security Strategy
- Undertake wing patrols, pegging, and observation of prisoners including those on Assessment Care in Custody & Teamwork (ACCT), or Cat A and E list prisoners as detailed by the Night Orderly Officer and in accordance with the Local Security Strategy
- Log any events in the observation book, wing case notes and Security Information Reports (SIRs) as appropriate.
- Carry out and report roll checks as detailed by the Night Orderly Officer
- Work within the Wing Offices as detailed
- Give a full briefing of the night's events at handover
- Undertake administrative duties relating to area of work as required
- Respond appropriately to invoke emergency procedures in line with Local Security Strategy (LSS) and National Security Framework (NSF), utilising knowledge of local contingency plans and the actions required in relation to incidents. Any initial decisions or actions will need to be referred to management for further action.
Please note the rate for this role is GBP14.31 per hour inclusive of holiday (opportunity to do overtime as and when required). What you'll need to succeedThe ideal candidate will have security experience, strong communication skills and doesn't mind lone working. You will also need to have the relevant documents required for the clearance procedure and be able to give satisfactory references upon request.What you'll get in returnThis is a perfect introduction to the prison service and could well lead to permanent employment with the National Offender Management Service as an OSG or Prison Officer.
