Job description

Location – Armada Way, Beckton

We are working alongside a market leader in the highways industry to recruit an Operational Planner .

The post holder will oversee and manage the Contract Programme to incorporate all operational activity on the contract. 

In this role, you will produce and maintain an overarching contract programme, whilst having close liaison with the permitting team.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Provide and maintain a ‘one source of the truth’ programme, which contains all operational activity on the contract, including cyclical, planned, scheme and maintenance works.
  • Work with the operational delivery teams to gather all programme related data and combine this to create a master programme within the Contract Programme.
  • Liaise with the projects team to capture the location, start / end dates and nature of all programmed works, bringing this within the Contract Programme.
  • Identify any and all risks and opportunities presented through the amalgamation of the programme data, to ensure that collaborative working is maximised and that road space opportunities are fully utilised with respect to cyclical and maintenance activity, in particular the ‘PWP works backlog.
  • In conjunction with the operational teams, ensure the programme is adjusted so as to optimise the utilisation of resources.
  • Be responsible for the continual updating and upkeep of the Contract Programme, ensuring that its visible to all relevant staff and client personnel.
  • Work closely with the permitting team to ensure that all relevant permits are raised and that any permitting restrictions / amendments are reflected within the Contract Programme.
  • In combination with operational managers, monitor internal operations teams to ensure programmed cyclical works are delivered on time, in accordance with the submitted plan, and escalate any identified issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Produce regular ‘weekly whereabouts’ reports detailing all contract work activity on the network for the given period.
  • To accept and carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of management.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and briefings as required.
  • Compliance to the company’s policies and procedures.

Ideal Candidate;

  • Highways/Civils knowledge
  • Strong and effective communicator
  • Experience in the permit process
  • Proficient with MS tools i.e Excel
  • Planning/Scheduling in works
  • Experience in Telecoms or Utilities would also be suitable
  • Good operational background
