Bovington and Lulworth are sites that support over 120 hours of maintenance and repair for our tracked vehicles, this function ensures that we deliver the capability the British Army need to contribute to front line-support.



The role
As an Operational Planning Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this exciting role, you will lead a team of five operational planners, ensuring the smooth operation of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of military tracked vehicles.


Day to day, you’ll be the senior escalation point that will understand and communicate risks, handle customer concerns, identify capability and capacity issues associated with plans, and liaise with all key stakeholders.


  • Plan in all tasks, considering both resource and material availability to provide high level of enabled work to operations, and liking to the productivity of each work centre.
  • Provide regular updates on the contracted hours position, forecast and actual position.
  • Respond efficiently to new demands, creating production plans based on customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the customer, suppliers, and team members.

This is a full time, fixed-term contract (52 weeks) with a hybrid working arrangement (three days on-site, two days remote). You'll be based at MOD Bovington, Dorset with occasional travel to the Lulworth site (20-minute drive).


Essential experience of the Operational Planning Manager

  • Experience in Operational Planning, ideally within a similar environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant planning and scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Planner).
  • Experience in stakeholder management and building strong relationships.
  • Experienced in one or more of the following: project / planning /supply chain management

Qualifications for the Operational Planning Manager

  • MCIPS or a Project Management Qualification (APMP and/or PRINCE2)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
