What does the role look like?

We are currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team in our Highlift value stream. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of leading a small yet dedicated Quality team, playing a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence across the value stream.

The focus of this role is to drive Continuous Improvement activities throughout the entire value stream, utilising your expertise to enhance product and service quality.

The ideal candidate will possess a operationally focused background, with proven leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for driving quality standards to new heights. What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

What will you bring to the role?

  • Ensuring Customer satisfaction (Quality) to the highest extent by developing relationships and demonstrating world class quality performance.
  • Ensure Compliance to all relevant regulatory, customer and internal requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Facilitating and adhering to Audits; both internal and external
  • Ensuring that VS quality strategy and objectives meet the expectations of the VS
  • Measuring Quality performance, defining targets and setting objectives to improve quality that feed into VS objectives; reduced cost of Poor Quality, reduction of escapes and improvement of First Pass Yield (FPY)
  • Ensuring that the Quality Clinic performance is world class and support investigations/projects in a timely manner.

  • Quality Team Management / Development & Skills
  • Training VS on quality basics
  • Interfacing with the central supplier quality function to ensure supplier quality is measured and improved.
  • Compliance to Collins Ethics, Export control, and Environmental Health and Safety in the Quality team.
  • Using Continuous Improvement (CORE) tools to improve key quality performance metrics.
  • Advanced Programme Quality Planning (APQP) on new programmes

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

  • Proven background in coaching & mentoring high performing teams
  • Excellent Quality/Lean toolkit: VSM, Kaizen, 8D, 5whys etc
  • Data driven approach to making decisions

Desirable skills:

  • Aerospace or low volume high complexity experience
  • Experience and understanding of quality Management Systems
  • Good understanding of logical problem-solving methodology such as RCCA process
  • Excellent ability to plan and execute projects
  • Ability to organise and prioritise personal workload
  • A good standard of computer literacy using industry wide software packages
  • Understanding of the general engineering process
  • Technical Understanding
  • Confidence in presenting to senior levels within the organisation
  • Experience to dealing with customers and suppliers (Internal & external)
