Job description

This is a key role for the Department for Business and Trade, who are delivering a new online export licencing system called Licensing for International Trade and Enterprise (LITE). It is vital that change management, that will impact exporters, other government departments, staff, and all stakeholders, is delivered in a structured, controlled, and coherent way.

Key to the success is to ensure everyone is ready to accept the changes coming throughout the lifecycle of the LITE project, including readiness for individual releases to a variety of stakeholders.

Co-ordination with the project stakeholders is key to role, so establishing strong working relationships with those individuals is essential.

The employee will work as an integral part of the project team. They will support on business change plans, including internal and external communications plans to deliver messaging, including planning training and activities to ensure everyone is aware of changes being rolled out and the impact to them.

Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to provide positive but honest messaging to all stakeholders to allow the new online digital system to be adopted.

Ensuring the Programme Management Office is aware off the status of change activities, delivery, risk assessment and current plans is an essential element of the role.

Your role will be to proactively prepare the organisation for the impact of the changes.

This will include:

  • Key focus will be to ensure the business are prepared for changes, ensuring that operations and OGD (Other government departments) and those impacted by LITE can move from the as is process to the new ways of working.
  • Manage and coordinate complex changes to ensure we are ready for transition to the new ways working.
  • Lead the performance of LITE applications in line with Service level agreements.
  • Ensure that change activities are implemented as planned.
  • Review communications to ensure they maintain effectiveness and exploring the use of new methods of communication for the Programme.
  • Implement and embed capability building within ECJU (Export control joint unit) and operations team.
  • The role will include a range of activities including workshops with the Helpline and user support desk and exporters.
  • Support operational procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose and changes are documented, communicated, and implemented.
  • Support in maintaining our LITE champions - Keep colleagues engaged to ensure buy in for continued development and manage change fatigue. Conducting stakeholder relationships skilfully and respectfully.
  • Supporting the delivery of a clear vision for change.
