SalaryAstute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste site to recruit an Operations Engineer for its site in Worcestershire.
The Operations Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to �66,500.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:
* Act as the senior person in the Operations Team when the Operations Manager is absent.
* Provide cover for the Shift Team Leader for sickness / training requirements etc.
* Act as the Senior Authorised Person o site, responsible for the preparing, issuing and cancelling permits to work.
* Write and audit relevant safety documents (Emergency Action Plans / Toolbox Talks / Risk Assessment etc)
* Carry out line manager duties for the Operational Day Staff, including managing housekeeping program, ensuring training and competence etc.
* Set-up, manage and audit contracts in line with the purchasing policy.
* Supervising and directing on site contractors when required
* Provide operational guidance to the health and safety team.
* Work closely with the maintenance team to plan and manage annual outages.
* Be responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels for operational consumables.
* Ensuring strict HSE compliance at all times.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Extensive and demonstrable experience with the operations team of a power station.
* A relevant engineering qualification, such as NVQ level 3 / HNC or similar
* Exposure to working in demanding and dynamic environments.
* Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S legislation, safe working environments, safety rules and outages.
* Experience supervising / managing a team would be advantageous.
* Candidates who have a maintenance background in power and looking to move into an operations role will also be considered.

* Has excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with different levels within the business.
* Has a strong ability to be adaptable and flexible, with the proven ability to remain calm and offer consistent leadership in a challenging environment.
* Is highly motivated, meticulous, result oriented and driven with attention to detail.
* Able to prioritise workload with strong analytical decision-making skills.
