Job title : Operations Excellence Manager

Location : Larne - (Expect extensive travel to the USA 30% – 50% of the time)   

Salary : £58,600 - £73,200

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 Bank Holidays.

Caterpillar Larne is home to the Electric Power business and its principal activity is in the design, manufacture, sale and support of quality standard and customised generator sets and bespoke associated equipment that provide reliable electric power around the world.

The Opportunity  

This role will give you the opportunity to play a key part in the newly formed Global Operations and Supply chain organisation within the Large Electric Power Division. 

Reporting to the Director of Global Operations and Supply Chain, this role will own the strategy development and deployment working with the Operational Facility Leads, Supply Chain, and Power Solutions Regional Managers.  

The organisation is newly formed and brings with it the immediate need to consolidate key areas within existing facilities and including the integration of the management of an extensive and growing external and complementary supply base.   

The role will be focused on strategy development as well as owning the project management and deployment of key initiatives including: 

  • Business and Facilities cadence. 

  • Operational excellence – Organizational development and Lean Manufacturing. 

  • Quality strategy – Customer Quality reporting, Built in Quality initiatives and business cadence. 

What you’ll do  

  • Facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, develop / validate network diagrams, lead integration and compression sessions. 

  • Design, establish, and monitor the organization's project goals. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues on using a disciplined project management approach and coaching them on their project-related roles and responsibilities 

What you’ll bring

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the below areas:

  • Conflict Management: Knowledge of managing conflicts; ability to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level. 

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. 

  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. 

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. 

  • Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team. 

  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way. 

  • Resource Management: Knowledge of the resources required to achieve business objectives; ability to plan, mobilize and distribute resources to fulfil business objectives and plans. 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:  

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired 

  • Previous experience including but not exclusive of: 

  • Operations Management within a facility (s) with mature CPS (Caterpillar Production System- LEAN) and BIQ (Built in Quality) structures. 

  • Engineering/Procurement leadership 

  • Quality Management 

  • 6 Sigma BB 

  • Project management 

  • Strategy deployment
