The purpose of the role is to be accountable for the management and day to day running of Home Instead operations, ensuring compliance with all governing body requirements and legislation relevant to the service.
The Role
The role reports to the Managing Director and is part of the management team. The Operations Manager manages a group of key players based in the office and motivates them to do their job efficiently and effectively. They provide daily/weekly objectives to support the business in reaching goals effectively.
The Operations Manager is responsible for implementing strategies that team members use to achieve goals, delegating tasks based on each member’s strengths and skills and offering the training necessary to complete certain tasks. They are also responsible for inspiring and motivating team members with regular encouragement, keeping the enthusiasm going by providing individualised coaching when needed.
The responsibilities of the role include:
Manage a team consisting of Care Manager, Care Quality Co-ordinators and Care Professionals
Work closely with the Managing Director to coordinate and further the development of a high quality private domiciliary care service for older people in the local area.
Networking in the franchise territory to raise awareness of the service and grow the number of hours of care, taking responsibility for community engagement
Promote the highest standards of care and service with a focus on person centred care.
Manage the process of client acquisition from initial contact, care consultation with client and family through to conversion, adhering to company policy.
Ensure that all schedules meet our clients’ needs and are optimal for Care Professionals retention by managing the schedule effectively
Manage the out of hours on call system to ensure compliance with Home Instead Franchise Standards, participating in the on call rota when necessary
Ensure successful operation of quality control and compliance systems and performing quality assurance visits for clients.
Effectively managing complaints and incidents, carrying out investigations relating to the quality of the service and using those findings to initiate improvements.
Ensure relevant reports are forwarded to relevant bodies e.g. Care Quality Commission and Safeguarding.
Promote a positive culture in line with the Home Instead ethos and values.
Take part in disciplinary investigations, interviews and meetings following company policy and in conjunction with advice from the HR Provider and support from our HR Co-ordinator.
Carry out your direct reports’ appraisals, one-to-one supervision, return to work meetings
Audit client compliance and Care Pro compliance in line with franchise standards
Identifying and create training needs plan for all team members
Take responsibility for identifying recruitment needs and ensuring sufficient capacity to support growth (working with central Business Operations team)
Support the recruitment and training of Care Professionals and the office team, delivering training as and when needed
Deliver Home Instead medication training in line with Home Instead policies and assess competencies for Care Professional team
Support the Care Manager to carry out care planning and conduct risk assessments ensuring compliance to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Ensure successful operation of quality control systems and performing quality assurance visits for clients.
Keep up to date with changes in legislation and regulations
Ensure compliance with Home Instead’s Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities Policy, in respect of employment and service delivery
Carry out any other duties deemed necessary for the successful operation of the business
