Operations Team Member

Edinburgh - Craigentinny Train Maintenance centre

Permanent contract

£34,459 + 15% shift allowance & £3,000 location allowance.

This role is currently working a days and nights shift, and may be moving to permanent nights.

Your new role

In this exciting role you will be responsible for the safe control of movements of Traction and Rolling Stock as a designated person both on and off TMC as well as the control of movements around the depot in line with operating procedures. Other key functions of the role will require staff to, form, uncouple and re-couple vehicles/set/units, the operation of ground frame panels, pass as a driver competent shunter. Carry out servicing duties including but not limited to Fuel, Fill, CET, Sand, Nose end Cleaning, etc.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Undertake as instructed shunting duties as issued by the Operations Team Leader in conjunction with Operating procedures ensuring that these duties are carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ensure all shunting duties are carried out in line with the Rule Book, Appendix and other instructions
  • Arrive and depart of T&RS safely using approved techniques as set out within the Rule Book, Appendix and other instructions
  • Responsible for ensuring that the standard and condition of all equipment required for movement operations are maintained to a high standard and any faults or defects are reported and logged.
  • Attend station and mainline callouts where required working to and within regulations and procedures as defined within the Personal Rule Book and Depot Safe Systems of Work.

Desirable

Licences / Competences

  • Basic IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experiences with Fleet Management Tools – P2, SOROS
  • Experience working with Traction and Rolling Stock.
