About the role:
Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise within the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for 5 Shift Operations Technicians to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland. This opportunity will be working through the commissioning period into full operations, so it will be a fantastic opportunity to familiarise yourself with the plant with extensive training going into full operations. The EfW will process 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum, exporting 21.5MW of electricity to the grid.
The vital Shift Operations Technician role comes with a salary of �37,800 + �5,000 Shift Allowance + Bonus + Private Medical + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will be responsible for:
* Using a DCS system you will be required to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and more.
* Working closely with the EPC Team during the commissioning phase of the plant.
* Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
* Performing plant walk round and daily checks to ensure equipment is operating correctly and efficiently.
* Monitoring of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and perform corrective adjustments to the process when required.
* Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff
* Working within the company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 or above qualification in an engineering discipline
* A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be desirable
Experience and personal skills:
The Shift Operations Technician role would suit someone who has:
* Prior experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power (EfW, CCGT, Coal, Biomass, CHP), Petrochemicals, Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
* Knowledge and experience working with steam generation equipment.
* Extensive experience working with SCADA/DCS systems.
* Ability to work as part of a team and cover for shift staff in times of absence on short notice
