The opportunity
We’re looking for new technicians to be key members of our Emergency Response Deployment Team, responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the nuclear power plant throughout your day-to-day activities.

Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary from £37,169
- £39,013, as well as shift pay from £11,359
- £11,645 and a range of company benefits such as 28 days holiday, annual salary reviews and a competitive pension. You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing
In the role, your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Monitoring plant conditions, records, values and observations
- Responding to requests from the control room to investigate issues
- Supporting the work management process through the execution of task identified on the station plan and the isolation of identified plant
- Working in confined spaces and working at height, navigating the plant in a variety of environments
- Logging activities during your shift accurately for a comprehensive handover
- Performing emergency scheme duties
- Ensuring all activities are carried out with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures and Safety Rules
- Manipulating the plant using station Operating procedures and appropriate human performance tools
- Contributing to Organisational Learning by routinely raising condition reports and evaluating fleet events and OPEX
- Reinforcing nuclear professionalism behaviours that improve performance and achieve a safe working environment.
Who you are
As a minimum, you’ll be educated to GCSE/National Qualifications standards and holding these to include “C” and above grade passes in English and Mathematics may be an advantage. Typically, you should have experience in the operation and/or maintenance of plant and machinery, although a comprehensive training package is in place. A clear communication style and effective engagement skills are paramount to this role, due to the need for quick decision making and relaying vital instructions.
You will be required to maintain the necessary physical fitness to perform the roles identified above, in particular those associated with the emergency response team where the wearing of breathing apparatus while performing physical work is a necessity. To comply with Emergency Scheme arrangements you should live within 25 miles (30 minutes) of the Station. Applicants with Class C, plus B+E qualifications on their driving licence would be at an advantage.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
