Job description

Communication and Key Working Relationships Ensure effective communication with multi-disciplinary team in order to facilitate the safe care of patients Communicate with people in a manner which is tailored to the individual's needs . Create a climate of trust and establish partnerships with patients. Maintain confidentiality, preserve privacy and dignity, and provide a legal record of care. Planning and Organization Contribute to the implementation of improvements to working practices.
Participate in improvements and changes within the department, directorate and Trust. Responsibility for patients/client Care, treatment and Therapy On direction from senior staff or following guidlines undertake diagnostic and monitoring procedures and document findings. Be aware of and work within the Health and Safety policies and procedures. Maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times.
Assume responsibilty for practice and maintain highest standards. Maintain with support people's equality, diversity and rights , in providing an ophthalmic service, allowing accessibility to the service. Preserve patients control over decision making, commitment to a mutually acceptable plan of care and foster personal responsibility for health. Policy, Service, Research & Development Responsibility Participate in maintaining National, Trust and Unit standards of patient services.
When requested participate in Public involvement to examine and improve services, health information and communication. Addressing the impact of disease, treatment, patients expectations and quality of life. Responsibility for finance, Equipment & other resources Participate in controlling the use of resources within budget limits. Responsibility for Supervision, Leadership & Management Identify own training needs and keep mandatory training updated.
Contribute to the development of professional knowledge and skills of other staff within the team . Practice in accordance with a personal professional development plan. Challenge behaviour that infringes the rights of others and report breaches. Contribute to and work within a safe working environment.
Information Resources & Administrative Duties Contribute to the collection, recording and storage of information. Maintain accurate documentation according to National, Trust and Departmental standards.
