Salary starts at £29k, increasing based on experience.

Rotating fortnightly shift pattern is:

Days: Monday 0600-1800; Tuesday to Thursday 0550-1800

Nights: Monday to Wednesday 1750-0600, finishing on Thursday morning

Responsibilities and Duties:

Working in a clean room environment and reporting to the Production Manager, the Optical Fiber Draw Tower Technician will be responsible for:

• Setting up preforms on the Draw Tower for all fiber types.


• Changing dies and performing coating changes.


• Monitoring results and output throughout the process.


• Filling in forms and maintaining logs, spreadsheets, and databases.


• Ensuring the smooth running of equipment, reporting faults and problems when necessary.


• Identifying and conducting process improvements on existing and new products under supervision.


• Glass preparation, including stretching and sleeving, rounding, and fire polishing.


• Daily and weekly routine maintenance of equipment.


• Following instructions related to specific changes.


• Adhering to all health and safety requirements.


• Any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), grade C or above, including Maths and Science.


• Previous experience in manufacturing and/or shift work advantageous.


• Able to understand written and verbal English.


• Able to maintain concentration over long periods of time.


• Able to work under a minimum amount of supervision, often alone.


• Physically fit enough to climb up and down steps multiple times a day.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
