Outdoor Education Teacher – Aurora Wilden View

Location: Torton, Kidderminster

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £30,000.00 - £44,870.00 (M1 – UPS2)

Start Date: 8th April 2024

The role:

We are looking a passionate, inspirational and engaging Outdoor Education Teacher to deliver high quality teaching and learning to children and young people with SEMH and other complex or anxiety related needs who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their diagnosis. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.

As our Outdoor Education Teacher, you will focus upon our Outdoor Education curriculum, Eco Schools and Environment Education, with a particular focus on Forest School, Outdoor Education and working with local services to develop opportunities for students beyond school in sport and other enrichment activities/experiences.

You will be based in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 but the willingness and ability to teach across the school would be advantageous.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications:

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training (Essential)
  • Experience of working in a special school environment and/or in particular with pupils with SEMH or ASC needs
  • Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of Forest School / Environment Education provision for children and young people is essential.
  • Evidence of experience in Outdoor Education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
  • Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships
