This role has a starting salary of £22,475 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. 

We are excited to be hiring a new Outdoor Learning Instructor (Academy) to join our fantastic Outdoor Learning team. If you would like to inspire, engage and develop personal and social skills with children and young people using adventurous outdoor activities - this is a fantastic opportunity to join our team!

The role will be based within our team at Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development. Our centres are:

  • High Ashurst, Mickleham Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6DQ
  • Henley Fort, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4RH
  • Thames Young Mariners, Ham, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 7RX

The role will have a primary base at one of the centres and will work across all centres at times.

About the Team

At Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), we offer our visitors carefully facilitated bespoke programmes in the outdoors, creating positive learning outcomes and experiences. We strive for high quality in everything we do, including health and safety matters, our customer experience, our facilities, our range of services and our staff.

About the Role

Our Outdoor Learning Instructor (Academy) role is perfect for individuals new to the Outdoor Learning industry. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is able to build rapport, empathise with others, and be confident to lead groups in an outdoor setting. In return we will provide an excellent training package and support, which will grow and develop skills, knowledge and tools in this role

As part of our delivery team, our academy staff will be quickly delivering quality sessions in a number of outdoor activities with the opportunity to obtain nationally recognised qualifications. Qualifications could be ERCA (ropes course qualification) or British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor, depending on local base of work, along with a 2-day Rescue Emergency Care first aid qualification.
