As an Outreach Librarian, you will:
Work as a Knowledge Specialist and be part of the Oxford Health library and knowledge team offering information skills support and knowledge management services, delivering complex literature searches, designing and delivering information skills training using a range of media, via MS Teams or face to face, developing current awareness services and monitoring service effectiveness.
Be prepared to make the best use of the electronic, physical and staff resources available, supporting teams and individuals in engaging with the evidence base and providing information consultancy for those unable to easily access NHS library services. Communicating and teamwork are essential for this post along with an imaginative approach to service delivery.

Our team of experienced information professionals and paraprofessionals provides library services to all NHS staff and students of OHFT based in primary care, mental health and community settings, as well as Commissioners and Public Health professionals where agreements exist.
The library service has three physical libraries: Warneford Library (main, Oxford), Whiteleaf Library (Aylesbury) and Littlemore Library ( Littlemore Mental Health Centre, Oxford). You will be based at Warneford Library but may be required to work at other libraries to cover opening hours by agreement, including travel expenses if appropriate. Home working is also part of this role, determined by rota and according to service need, with regular team meetings and communications in person, via email and MS Teams.
Library staff also work closely with NHS library colleagues across Thames Valley and Wessex and the South.
The successful application will have access to a range of CPD opportunities via NHSE.
What we need from you!
  • A qualified, enthusiastic Librarian/Information professional with substantial experience in a professional librarian role
  • Good ICT skills, and a wide experience and knowledge of using library, web, Office applications, and developing technologies, enabling you to effectively market and evaluate services and facilitate access to networked and web-based services.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to work unsupervised and to prioritise workloads.
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication abilities in verbal, written and presentational skills
  • Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the service
  • Good attention to detail, accuracy and quality of service
  • A flexible and positive attitude with a willingness to accommodate change
