Job description

Outreach Team Practitioner (EYSEN) 3 positions

Full time, Derbyshire term time only

The Early Years Special Educational Needs Service (EYSEN) works with children who have long term and complex special educational needs, from birth to 5 years. As part of this service the Outreach Team provides intensive but short term support to preschool settings in both the PVI and maintained early years sector. The role of the Outreach Team practitioners is to support settings to meet the needs and improve the educational outcomes of young children with complex SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs, SPN (sensory processing needs) or diagnoses that impact their behaviour and access to their learning opportunities. Support is provided through assessment of these needs and implementation of appropriate support strategies and inclusive practice.

There are 6 positions, nominally based at Buxton (to cover north Derbyshire), Chesterfield (to cover the Chesterfield and central Derbyshire area) and at Denby (to cover south Derbyshire). However, caseload demand could require the successful candidate to travel throughout the county regardless of nominal base. You will require your own car and ability to drive to different settings.

Applicants should have experience and knowledge of young children with special educational needs. You must be willing to contribute to and be part of a team and have the ability to deliver training and continuing professional development. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Head of Early Years Special Educational Needs Service.
