We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to join our team, as part of the The Open Door Project, Newport.
What is the Open Door Project?
The Open Door Project delivers Outreach Support to rough sleepers and vulnerably housed people across Newport. We aim to support the wellbeing of individuals and develop the skills and confidence needed for future independent living.
We reach out to support homeless people sleeping rough.
We reach out to support homeless people in temporary accommodation.
We host a drop-in 7 days a week and we ensure our support is available across multi-agency locations.
Key Responsibilities:
To lead our early morning outreach provision, traveling across the city centre and nearby locations assertively engaging with individuals who are sleeping out. Your role will be essential in the assessment of rough sleepers, promoting safety and creating pathways into accommodation. A caring and compassionate approach is essential, alongside an ability to robustly record essential data.
Taking a collaborative approach, working with a wide variety of statutory and voluntary partners, supporting homeless people.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge around homelessness and the key needs experienced by vulnerable homeless people.
Demonstrate great communication and IT skills.
Enjoy working as part of a team.
Hold the ability to work in sympathy with the spiritual principles of The Salvation Army.
