Planning Engineer – Railway Infrastructure – West Midlands
My client, a tier 1 Civil Engineering contractor is looking for an experienced P6 Planner to work within their planning teams in the West Midlands.
Working in the Planning Discipline of Integrated Project Controls, under the direction and leadership of the IPC Planning Manager, to establish, develop and maintain Project schedules / plans for either the Central Controls Team or one of the Programme Controls Teams.
This will include the timely and accurate maintenance of the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) in adherence with HPC processes, management of Level 3 (contract) schedules, and provision of time-related data and analysis. To assist and support the Central Controls Team when required to ensure alignment with the Level 2 (client) IWS.
To support a tier 1 Contractor across a variety of Railway schemes, making informed decisions to support the efficient and timely delivery of work scope.
Your responsibilities will include:
The Planning team provide vital support to the project management function with various Project Controls duties across the division.
This includes, but is not limited to:
• The production and ownership of project schedules
• NEC Programme Administration (Contract Programmes, Delay Analysis etc.)
• Production of Tender Programmes
• Supporting Senior Managers with the updating of various management trackers and tools.
Key Attributes:
• The Planning Team is expected to have a thorough understanding of planning software and thus candidates must have a proven experience using the scheduling software Primavera P6. Microsoft Project experience is desirable.
• Must be a good communicator with strong interrogation and interviewing skills - the role requires the individual to work with all levels of operational managers to gather and capture information to produce programmes and reports.
• Understanding of the NEC suite of contracts and the contract’s programme requirements• Demonstrable competence in using Microsoft Excel.
• Must have experience working within Civil Engineering/construction industry – an understanding of Railways or Highways environments, working requirements is desirable but not essential.
• Candidates must be able to show an attention to detail and the ability to manage their time across multiple different duties.
