Packaging Prodigy?!
In this hybrid position as a Packaging Technologist, your primary responsibilities involve contributing to the Product Development process through collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Process, NPD and Procurement. You will be confirming packaging costs in internal NPD costings, coordinating the finalisation of packaging cutters, and ensuring the suitability and approval of outer cases for NPD/EPD (Existing Product Development).
You'll play a crucial role in finalising all packaging elements, including trays, sleeves, films, and outer cases, ensuring they meet the required standards. Artwork approval is a critical aspect, involving thorough checks on cutter guide size, layout, date code box, barcode position, and varnish-free areas. Additionally, you'll be accountable for managing promotional artwork, generating internal packaging specifications, and supporting product trials and pre-productions by ordering necessary packaging.
Your role extends to attending retailer pre-artwork meetings, co-coordinating the approval of the first delivery of printed packaging, managing the Brandbank process, and updating the packaging database for accuracy and accessibility. Collaboration with the Procurement team is essential to understand the business strategy regarding packaging suppliers, and you'll work closely with the NPD Packaging Manager to support the delivery of new packaging innovations.
To excel in this role, you'll need effective time management skills, organisational prowess, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong written and oral communication skills and a proactive approach is essential. The role demands self-discipline and a keen eye for detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of packaging specifications throughout the development process. Might I add this is a hybrid role
