Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Children's Audiology Team based at Brighton General Hospital in the role of Paediatric Audiology Assistant.
The post involves working with children and their families who are attending for a hearing assessment. The post holder will work alongside the Audiologists to allow age appropriate hearing assessment of the child. Support and training to develop these skills will be provided . A desire to work with children is essential.
Although the post is a clinical role the post will involve collaborative working with the Audiology Team Administrators. It is likely that one day per week will be outside of the clinic room and will potentially include ensuring communication is provided to families in a timely manner and supporting the ordering and stock management for the service. This will be developed with the successful applicant when they join the team.
There will further be the expectation for the post holder to partake in generalised structured training within the trust (for example the Care certificate).
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Paediatric Audiology Assistant. The post holder will assist in a range of Paediatric Audiology appointments working alongside the senior clinical team and assisting with their clinical duties. This would include hearing assessments of young children and babies. Training and supervision will be provided within the service with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge through further learning.
The post holder will also be required to assist Audiologists with their daily administrative duties. These duties would include scanning, liaising with families (face to face, email and telephone), maintaining stock levels, completing daily calibration of equipment, using and updating S1 and the trust health and safety service audits.
Specific knowledge will be acquired through hands on training and experience gained over time.
About us
Children's Audiology are a friendly team incorporating Team Administrators, Paediaitric Audiology Assistants and Clinical Staff. The team works across sites at Crawley Hospital in Crawley, Nightingale Child Development Centre in Haywards Heath and Brighton General Hospital in Brighton.
As a service Children's Audiology sits within Children's Services within SCFT and benefits from close links to the Child Development Centre's.

Essential

• If no evidence of GCSE Math's and English or equivalent score 0. If level 3 childcare plus Maths and English score 5. If just Maths and English score 3

Experience

• Experience of working with children, young people and families. Communicating effectively with a diverse range of people.

• Handling personally or commercially sensitive information

Skills and knowledge
Essential

• Experience of interacting with children and young people, evidence of time management, evidence of use of microsoft office, outlook and excel, evidence of knowing when to seek advice from a senior colleague, evidence of team working
